Mitomycin c 40mg injection is used in the treatment of certain kinds of cancer of pancreas, breast, lung, and stomach. It can be used alone or in combination with some medicines as part of combination chemotherapy. Mitomycin is a type of antibiotic that is only used in cancer chemotherapy. It works by interfering with the growth of cancer cells, which are eventually destroyed. Mitomycin is also sometimes used to treat anal cancer such as cancer that begins in the anus, cervical cancer, a type of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma such as cancer in the lining of the chest or abdomen. The most common side effects of this medicine include anemia such as low number of red blood cells, decreased white blood cell count, increased bleeding tendency, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
